If you've ever walked through Asheville Mall and spotted the pink neon and the bulldog ottoman (that's Chauncey 🐾💖), then you've already felt the vibe. But behind the sparkle and curated displays is a story of bouncing back — and building something better.
We started as a humble kiosk in late 2024 — right out in the middle of the mall floor with nothing but a dream, a laser, and a few brave products. Things were just starting to pick up when Hurricane Helene hit.
Like so many small businesses, we were knocked flat. The mall was closed. My kiosk was shut down for three full weeks. No income. No traffic. No guarantees. But what we had — what we've always had — was community.
And we came back swinging.
On March 1, 2025, I moved into a small shop inside Asheville Mall — a cozy corner space where the laser never stopped humming and people came in not just to buy, but to share stories, pick out wedding gifts, cry over memorial ornaments, and laugh about the time someone tried to engrave a bagel (yes, really).
And then… we outgrew it.
On August 6, 2025, I Can Make That moved into our forever home: a fully built-out, over-1,700 sq ft storefront right beside Panda Express, with room for glass-topped jewelry counters, a dedicated laser demo station, our entire Highland Cow ornament display, and yes — Chauncey has his own designated space.
What started as a dream on a kiosk cart is now a full-fledged creative space where people come to make memories tangible. You can walk in with nothing but a vague idea and walk out with a custom-engraved cutting board, a same-day personalized gift, or a fully cry-worthy pet memorial that still makes you smile.
What makes this place different isn't just the laser or the layout. It's the intention. I believe the best gifts come from real connection — so whether you're ordering online or walking in to chat, I want to make sure it feels human, meaningful, and personal.
